Our Mission

To provide best practice in a family environment with individual care and unique learning experiences that produce quality outcomes.

Our Quality

Western Star is committed to continuous improvement based on our Quality Improvement Plan prepared by the Coordination Unit in the Scheme.

About Us

Western Star Kids Family Day Care Pty Ltd was established in early 2012. This scheme is privately owned and operated, with a focus on the culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) communities within east Perth, as far north as Clarkson, to Byford in the south, and Mundaring in the east.

Our Managing Director and Educational Leader has a teaching qualification and fifteen years’ experience in early childhood learning in New Zealand and Australia.

Our team of coordinators is dedicated in providing support for all our educators in whatever capacity required to further their professional development. Our aim is quality child care with fun learning ….. We have an open-door policy and believe in working in partnership with parents and communities to help children learn and develop naturally.

Quality Standards

Our programs are based on the National Quality Standards which provides ‘The Early Years Learning Framework’ of ‘Belonging, Being and Becoming’. The framework supports teaching and learning methods which are embedded for planning, observing, assessing, evaluating and reporting purposes.

Our service consistently strives for best practice in a caring home environment. The principles, practices and learning outcomes assist us in designing, implementing and evaluating inclusive and balanced learning experiences for each child. Children are given time and space they need to explore, discover, practise skills, express their individuality and sense of joy.

Educators participate in spontaneous play with children and use this information for future planning around the child’s unique interests and way of doing things. Educators are flexible with daily routines, with consideration for children’s needs and development of independence and agency, so extended time, if needed for free play or structured group times, is negotiated.

Parents are informed daily and view their children’s progress report on learning and development each month, as well as provide input or comments.
